File transfer in iChat

  1. Open iChat

    to transfer directly

  2. Locate the file recipient in your buddy list, from the finder drag the file (multiple files do not work, use a folder instead) over the buddy until they are highlighted and then release.



  3. When the dialogue appears asking you if you want to send the file, click "Send"



  4. After you click send you may see a progress dialogue if the file is at all large.



    to transfer in a chat window
  1. Locate the file in your finder and drag to the text input area of your chat.



  2. The file icon will appear in miniature for in the text entry box, you must press return to send the file.



  3. The file will show up in the chat, a preview is available for some files, others will only be linked icon which the receiver will click to download.
